Cronkridge Rabbits

             LIONHEADS

Lionheads are a fairly new breed of rabbit here in North America and are believed to be the mutated offspring of a cross between a Swiss Fox and a Belgian Dwarf, and somewhere along the way another cross breeding to a wooly rabbit must have been added into the mix.

Lionheads sport a wooly "mane" around their ears, neck and shoulders. (hence the name). As well as a "bib" down the chest area, some even have "flank wool" or a "skirt" surrounding their lower body (which is allowed but not ideal).

*All of our Lionheads are purebred and available with pedigrees except rabbits sold as pets.*

We are proud to be The Top DRCBA Sweepstakes Points Holder for 2008 Lionheads!

                BUCKS

All of our bucks are purebred, and proven breeders. All have the double mane gene

Conner has an excellent head and ears as well as a great shoulder, mane and HQ. He has wonderful mane density as well as good type and mid section. He is a little long in body, but as you can see by his winnings, that hasn't stopped the judges from placing him well. Unfortunately this little man takes forever during his molts and once he starts, he is in no condition for showing for at least a month.

At this point, trying to cut down to make way for new babies, we are struggling to decide whether or not to keep Conner. On the one hand, he has been a great show buck for us. On the other hand, we don't really have anything to breed him to. He is still young and would have a lot to give to whomever owns him. Have decided to place him up for sale and see what happens.

Cronkridge's Porkchop (PB)

Tort

Dad: Manely's Adrian (Sable Point)

Mom: Prideland's Anastasia (Black)

Porkchop is one of the little bucks we are holding onto for now to see develop as we are looking for a replacement for his daddy who left us shortly after this breeding took place. We are a tad leary of keeping this little man as he was in a litter of one and is a little bigger than the other kits born at the same time but he's got great type already and we are hopeful of him.

Cronkridge's Drifter (PB) $60

Tort

Dad: Manely's Adrian (Sable Point)

Mom: Fantasyland's DQ (Black)

We had all intentions of selling this little guy but while getting ready for the upcoming Barrie show we noticed the potential in him and decided to keep him a little while longer. We want to pick the best replacement buck out of the 5 we got from his daddy before he left.

Cronkridge's Cricket (PB)

Broken Black

Dad - RHA's Moe (chocolate chinchilla)

Mom - Manely's Beauty (broken black)

Cronkridge's Minion (F2)

Red

Dad - Manely's Abe (red)

Mom - Manely's Turuko (tort)

Nice type on this little guy for being 2nd generation... barely any mane, but a little more than his brother. Good colour. Hoping to keep my red line tiny with him for now, he weighs just over 2lbs, will be looking to find him a new home in the spring.

Cronkridge's Cadbury (F1)

Chocolate

Cadbury almost met an untimely end when I found him, he'd been destined for the meat market. He's not much to look at, no mane left and very narrow but I plan to breed him to one of my nicer does and see if we can fix any of it. lol. I was unable to track down any chocolates that I could have brought over the border so when he appeared, I decided to take my chances and see what happens.

                    DOES

Our does are excellent breeders coming from various well known lines around Canada and the USA, all of our girls are also double mane gened.

Prideland's Anastasia

Black

Weight - 3.25lb

Dad: Prideland's Sinjin (Tort)

Mom: Prideland's Indigo (Black)

Ana is a wonderful little doe that we have here, she has a really nice head and ear as well as a good HQ. She molted out most of her mane last summer but it grew back in just as thick and full as always. She also has gorgeous little babies (usually 3-5).

Fantasyland's Bebe

Black Otter

Weight - 3.0lb

Dad: DJ's Buddy Bear (Black Otter)

Mom: Fantasyland's Becca (Black Otter)

Bebe has a very nice head and ear as well as a nice full mane with wonderful texture and density.  She has a fairly good shoulder, hip and HQ as well. Slightly wooly flanks. Proven. We are hoping to get another breeding or two out of her this year as well as getting her onto the show tables.

Molly has an incredible head and ear as well as a nice, full mane. She has a good shoulder and HQ. Her midsection could be a little better. Overall, she is a very nice example of the breed as well as being an amazingly calm animal and a fantastic mother.

Manely's Turuko

Tort

Weight: 3.0lb

Dad: Wetzel's Affleck (Tort)

Mom: DJ's Sunshine (Tort)

WINS: 3rd Best Sr. Doe Barrie 2008

Turuko has a great head and fantastic ears and mane. Could use a little more density however. She had quite alot of flank wool with a well defined break, however she finally decided to molt this out for us. She has a nice shoulder but could use some height to her hips. Turuko does have a furry tummy though, and we (as well as one judge) are unsure just how desireable this traight is.

We finally got a nice sized litter from this girl, and not a moment too soon as it is one of our red litters. See nursery page for info and updates.

Funny Bunny Tabbi (F3)

Broken Black

Dad: FP's Garnet (Tri)

Mom: FP's Molley (Broken Black Silver Marten)

Tabbi will be our first purebred broken Lionhead mommy here. She came to us after having quite a few litters as her owners were suppliers of pet stores. We decided to give her a few months of rest before breeding her to any of our bucks. Hopefully by spring she will be back in good enough condition for babies.

We also just found out that Tabbi is the Great Neice to our Chin buck Pumba.

Manely's Beauty

Broken Black

Dad: Wetzel's Affleck (Black Tort)

Mom: Manely's Dutchess (Broken Black)

Beauty is one of our brood does here. We have gotten a variety of coloured babies from her since bringing her in from BC and are hoping to get some more before she gets much older.

Thank you so much Wendy... another beautiful bunny!!

Cronkridge's Shiver (PB)

Smoke Pearl

Dad - Fantasyland's Remy (blue)

Mom - Cronkridge's Molly (smoke pearl)

Still waiting for this little one to blow out her baby coat and clean up the extra fuzz she has. She's got wonderful type and I know she'll go far on the tables once she's clean. Great head, nice short thick ears and a cobby body. Also has great colouring. Watch out for this little one next spring.

Cronkridge's Burr (PB)

Blue

Dad - Fantasyland's Remy (blue)

Mom - Cronkridge's Molly (smoke pearl)

Littermate to Shiver, but has developed more quickly. She blew most of her baby coat quickly and was one of our main show animals in fall '09. She kept her mother's amazingly thick mane and great personality. She has a really good head, short thick ears and a cobby little body.

Cronkridge's Pandora (F3)

Tort

Dad - Fantasyland's Remy (blue)

Mom - Cronkridge's Domino (broken orange)

Pandora is the only one of this litter of 7 that we still have here. She has AMAZING type and a great mane but unfortunately has two very white toenails so we decided to keep her around and use for our broken program for a little while.

Cronkridge's Hawk (F2)

Broken Chestnut (high rufus)

Dad - Manely's Abe (red)

Mom - Manely's Beauty (broken black)

Hawk is our little "mile high" baby. We'd purchased her parents from BC and they ended up being shipped in the same compartment lol. She has fairly good type but little to no mane. We'd bred her to our other red buck in fall '09 but she didn't do well as a first time mother and we lost the litter. Will be breeding her again over the winter and hope to get some broken reds on the show tables in 2010.
